Children are different.
This is the mantra at the heart of my teaching style. With every student I meet, I always take time to get to know them and understand how they learn. It’s important to me that I determine what works best for them, what helps them stay relaxed and focused, and what’s the best way to build their confidence and independence.
This approach comes from my own background. I was home-educated from the age of nine and I genuinely feel this helps me understand the problems faced by both teacher and pupil. As a result, I don’t take sides. The educational system isn’t for everyone – but it’s not all bad either. We have to find a way to navigate it to best suit our needs.
With the students I teach, the approach I take is led by the parents. What do you want your child to learn? Is there a specific way you want them to be taught? These are the questions I ask all the parents who approach me. You need to know that my approach will work for you and I understand this.
I offer a range of teaching services. From hourly tuition ahead of entrance exams, SATs, GCSEs and A-Levels, to full-time tuition at home (home-education via a tutor essentially – a modern governess).
I hold a current first aid certificate, a clean driver’s licence, and I am on the DBS update service.
Full-time Home tutoring/Governess
Primary school only (KS1 and KS2). All subjects.
This service entails you hiring me as a full-time home tutor.
What does this mean? This mean I will teach your child/children the whole UK curriculum. From Maths and Science, to English and Art. I do not offer foreign languages, or a musical instrument (although I can offer beginner’s guitar), but I will source these services for you should you request them.
I can also proxy-parent, run errands, and prepare meals for the children (home-cooked) as well as re-heatable suppers and batch-cooked meals (such as pasta sauce and casseroles) to fill your freezer.
I have worked as a home educator for a number of families in the past. Please get in touch to discuss your particular family.
